Travertine
A warm stone used as a wall, a block, and a table.
Concept visualization by Cali Renderings. Not a completed client project. Music only, no narration. Use the player controls to change the volume or mute it.
Vein-cut travertine forms a fireplace wall and a solid coffee table, balanced by wood paneling, a low sofa, and a cognac leather chair.
Cut along the vein, travertine shows a warm linear grain. Using it on a large wall and a solid block lets that grain read clearly.
Its natural holes are usually filled for floors and tables, or left open on walls for more texture.

- Where it works
- Fireplace walls, coffee tables, floors, and bathroom walls.
- Pairs with
- Walnut or oak paneling, cognac leather, cream upholstery, black accents.
Before you choose it
- Travertine is calcium-based. It etches with acids such as wine and citrus, so a honed, sealed finish is the practical choice.
- Filled travertine is easier to keep clean on tables and floors. Unfilled is best kept to walls.
- Vein cut and cross cut look very different. Ask which cut you are seeing.
- Around a fireplace, confirm clearances and that the stone and setting materials suit the heat.
