Hidden Light
Light built into the architecture instead of added as fixtures.

Concealed lighting in a ceiling cove, a plaster niche, and under a floating credenza gives this living room a warm evening glow with no visible bulbs.
Hidden light washes surfaces instead of pointing at them. A lit niche makes a textured plaster wall the focal point, and a strip under floating millwork makes heavy pieces feel lighter.
It works best layered with a few lamps and dimmable ceiling lights, so the room can shift between daytime, evening, and entertaining.

- Where it works
- Living rooms, bedrooms, niches and shelving, under vanities and floating cabinetry.
- Pairs with
- Textured plaster, stone, warm wood, matte finishes.
Before you choose it
- Plan it during design. Coves, niches, and channels for LED strips are framed and wired before walls are closed.
- Choose a warm color temperature, around 2700K, with high color rendering so wood and stone look natural.
- Use aluminum channels with diffusers to avoid visible dots on glossy surfaces.
- Place drivers where they can be reached for service later.
